Witch Doctors

Jackline Mukisa’s eight-year-old son’s body was found in a swamp missing his teeth, lips, ears and genitals. More than 21 women have been killed in ritual sacrifices between May 3rd and Sept. 4th, 2017. The body of Francis Bahati’s wife was found missing her fingers and feet. “Sacrifices often involve removing body parts, blood or tissue while the child is still alive.” Draining blood, cutting off/out genitals and beheading is not uncommon among victims sacrificed in ritual killings. It’s a Doggy-Dog World

In a conversation years ago with a friend, I mentioned that one of the few things that I ever heard my father philosophize on was a common saying, for some, that life was a “Dog-eat-dog world.” Life for poor folks was often a hard one. Potemkin on the Potomac

It is said, “appearances are everything.” Keeping up appearances is common for a variety of legitimate reasons. Many sloppy things done in private may not look so good in public from eating, dress, housekeeping and other life-living endeavors. Not looking like the bandied about “Wal-Mart” dresser is simply not wanting to look like a slob in public, but perfectly all right at home. Public appearance is not a form of deception, but simply a practice of personal presentation. Surely you want to run the vacuum before guests arrive.
